you've decided on laser vision correction: what next?

Congratulations! You've decided to have laser eye surgery (also called refractive surgery) to improve your vision. Like other patients, there are several steps you'll need to take to begin the laser vision correction process:

  • Consider your refractive surgery options: Before you schedule refractive surgery to correct your vision, make sure that you understand your options. Be sure to educate yourself about the different vision correction procedures available to you. Also, learn more about the LASIK surgical procedure, so that you know what's involved.
  • Choose your surgeon: Finding the right surgeon for your refractive surgery is an important decision. We'll provide you with some simple guidelines and some questions to ask a prospective surgeon. You can also find a surgeon near you, so that you can schedule a consultation.
  • Knowledge boosts confidence: The more research you do, the more equipped you'll feel to question your doctor about your concerns. From your first appointment with your surgeon until your refractive surgery day, you'll feel more reassured if you know exactly what will happen. One helpful way to prepare is to create an action plan that details what to do before your LASIK refractive eye surgery and after it.
